HIGHLAND CITY, Fla. (AP) - A 10-year-old boy in a wheelchair who accidently steered into a large wasp's nest died from stings paramedics said were too numerous to count.

When the wheels of Ryan Smith's wheelchair lodged in the nest in a wooded lot near his home Tuesday, the third-grader was unable to raise his muscular dystrophy-weakened hands to swat the yellow jackets away.

"They were swarming all around him . . . He was screaming for me to come help him," said father Bruce Smith, who was stung 35 times trying to rescue his son.
