LOS ANGELES (AP) - John Holmes, a star of pornographic movies who boasted of thousands of sexual conquests during a career that spanned two decades, died in hospital Saturday, business associate William Amerson said yesterday. He was 43.
Two weeks ago, police questioned Holmes, reportedly ill with AIDS, about the unsolved 1981 bludgeoning murders of four people in a house in Laurel Canyon.
Holmes, star of such X-rated movies as Exhausted and Tell Them Johnny Wadd Is Here, was acquitted of the murders during a 1982 trial. Jurors cited a lack of corroborating evidence. He never told authorities what he knew about the slayings.
Police said Holmes' palm print was found over the bed of one of the victims.
Holmes once claimed to have had sex with 14,000 women on and off the screen.
